Leaves of VFT Turning Black Before Trap

Hello I’ve been a little worried that my plants are dying. There’s been more black traps recently and the leaves are turning black before the traps do. I checked and I don’t think it’s root rot — maybe it’s dehydrated? The soil kept drying out until it finally rained yesterday though I keep the tray full and water from the top when the soil gets dry. I also moved them to a more shady area bc some are really really red and I was worried about sunburn (they still get probably around 6 hours of direct sunlight though). Anyways, are my Venus fly traps okay?

How dry is it getting? The surface should always be moist.

It felt like it was unfortunately drying out completely :( Even when I would water it from the top it would dry out in a day or two. Now that it’s been raining where I live it’s moist and won’t get that dry again.
