Leaves of VFT Turning Black Before Trap

Hello I’ve been a little worried that my plants are dying. There’s been more black traps recently and the leaves are turning black before the traps do. I checked and I don’t think it’s root rot — maybe it’s dehydrated? The soil kept drying out until it finally rained yesterday though I keep the tray full and water from the top when the soil gets dry. I also moved them to a more shady area bc some are really really red and I was worried about sunburn (they still get probably around 6 hours of direct sunlight though). Anyways, are my Venus fly traps okay?
Even when I would water it from the top it would dry out in a day or two. Now that it’s been raining where I live it’s moist and won’t get that dry again.
