I'm new to the forum and just signed up. I bought a cephalotus seedling about a week or to ago. It was really small and was still green and healthy. But after a week or two it starts turning kind of white. Is it dying? I just use a lamp with a 100 watt bulb to give it some light. I belive it's CFL. How do I save it?

It might be to late for your plant. I never say die so here is my advice to you. You need to make sure that it's in well draining medium. Next you need to make sure that it's evenly watered. The plant needed to be bagged when you first received it. So that's what I am recommending that you do now. Put the whole thing inside a ziplock bag so it has 100% humidity. Keep it about 8-10 inches away from the light. Only open the bag once a day to exchange the air then seal it back up. Hopefully you will see some new green growth starting, but it will take several weeks. Be patient. The reason it went downhill so fast is that cephalotus need to be acclimated to different growing conditions especially when they are that small. After you see some new growth you can gradually cut or poke a hole in the bag. Over the course of another few weeks you will be cutting several holes in the bag. The whole process will probably be around 6 weeks. Like I said you will have to be very patient if you want to save this plant. Good luck :D

I put it in a little cap with small wet napkins. Then I put it in the zip lock bag. I'm praying that it'll survive.

Sorry for the late 1 week reply. Bern busy with school. But the night u guys told me that I screw up and to plant it back into the soil, I plant it back as quickly as I could. That was 6 days ago. I keep the cephalotus in the bag and put some water on the tray under the pot. It's now turning yellow. Is this a good sign? I read online that when a cephalotus turns yellow, it means it's over watered. Did I over water it?

The water from the plastic evaporates up to make the entire inside of the bag wet. Is this good for the cephalotus?
