Is my DC_XL flytrap doing ok?#311997

Its my first time posting here and i just want some advice on the health of my flytrap. So i believe my flytrap is slowly coming out of dormancy now but i have some concerns on its newly developed traps they are showing some odd signs. For example the center trap seemed to stop growing after it was triggered before it fully opened also this could just be me being paranoid but i see that another of the new traps is turning slightly yellow.I live in sunny California use distilled water and just started using the tray method of watering after it started getting a little hotter. My DC-XL gets full sun and i have had him for about 5 month now.

In the end this could all be my imagination but i don't want to take a risk on it so any other opinions and advice would be appreciated thanks.

Deformed traps are not unusual when coming out of dormancy. Things should normalize soon.

It is doing ok. Its normal to have black traps, even when new spring growth comes out.

Black traps are also normal when another growing season starts.

The plant looks healthy and as stated above the traps should start coming up better looking as spring progresses.

You do not "need" to trim the black traps now. Nobody is going around cleaning dead out of native VFT'S and they've survived just fine so far.
