The price per ounce or cubic inch is much lower and CP are highly addictive.
You'll soon find yourself mixing up up 2 - 5 gallon bucket-sized batches.
Algae can be scraped off easily or eliminated with a sand or granite gravel top-dressing.
Algae is not a problem to anything except tiny emergent seedlings.

4 cubic foot, the big bags or cubes just get a better price per unit. i use perlite for every thing. cactus/succulent potting mix. i put 12cf in my garden and tilled it really deep.

Lol, it's sock season, I've been knitting lol. I just buy larger quantities. So definitely at least a gallon. But if you can spare the extra bucks, hit a gardening store. I bought a massive bag for like 12.00. I saved it for the inevitable next 40 plants.

Truth. I mixed a five gallon bucket of it and just dipped into it when I needed it.

So 2 or so hours of finding the soil mixers and another 2 putting it all together. How'd I do?

Looks good.

What I often do, although it's not necessary, is put a bag or dome on the plant for about 2 weeks after transplanting and put the pot in a bright place but out of direct mid-day sun.

This lowers stress on the plant by reducing transpiration moisture loss.
It gives the roots time to adjust to their new environment.
I've found that it makes a big difference with Drosera.

Just my 2¢ worth.

How will the bag help the stress. The spare room it's in will probably keep that temp and humidity % for at least the next few days. It also has a south facing window that I'm controlling with blinds. After a week or so I was planning on putting it on that windowsill. I'd like to have it acclimated by mid/end of July or when these temps and humidity don't feel like a wet blanket. Thoughts?

Bag or dome will raise humidity to 100% more or less.
Higher humidity will reduce transpiration.
Transpiration is water evaporating from the plant through its leaves.
Normally this is replaced by the roots.
In newly repotted plants the roots can't keep up with moisture loss.
This will stress out the plant and in severe cases, kill it.

I use artificial light or put it on the North side of the house during this period.
Direct mid-day sun will cook it in the bag or dome.

I never rush a plant.
I watch it for signs that it is ready for the next step before I go there.
After 2 weeks, give or take, the plant perks up, looks sturdy again and has dew on it, day and night.
Then I'll uncover it and start increasing the light.

Just my 2¢ worth.

Yes.
I had a buncha Drosera that I transplanted 2 weeks ago.
Pots had assorted sizes of seedlings from 1 inch tall to 1/8 inch tall.
The big ones are dewy and ready but the smalls are not.
So I'll give them another week and check again.
Doing things this way gives you an extremely high success rate.

This is what I picture....
Taking plastic shopping bags, tying the top and putting a few holes in it to let the water in.

That right?

That'll work fine.
I open the dome, once a day to check progress.
This tends to fight off chances of mold or fungus starting to grow.

Or giant ziplock bags, if it'll fit.
