How is my moss propagation? I’m noticing the yellow-brown “root” of the moss is getting a tad greener. It has been about a week.

That might just be algae forming...

Agree, i tried to revive dried moss too and eventually ended up with dark green algae after few months like shown in pic. Also putting up 2 pics of growing moss for contrast. Think your best bet is to buy live sphagnum and cut those up. My water tds always below 15.Image

I actually an propagating it from some live moss. It is a light green, not dark or slimy. If i do get algae, how do I get rid of it?

It looks like the plant melted then algae took over. Live moss should have anti-septic properties so there shouldn’t be any algae growing directly on it, unless its dead. Not sure whats your method, but check water tds, check your light and also check if you are drowning them.

I put half an inch of peat and perlite on the bottom, and laid the moss on top. I water it every week. Is it too wet? I use ro water.

I use pure sphagnum peat moss with no perlite.
Maybe try reducing water, it seems like everything is mush.

How wet should it be? I have a piece of plastic wrap over the tray.

The perlite won't matter. I've used my regular CP soil mix for a base, and the sphagnum moss did well on that, too.

Very damp to a bit soggy.

Do you have vent holes/slits in the plastic wrap? A little fresh air definitely helps.

If the average humidity wont dip below 55 try to grow in open air, mist least once a day with RO water. Direct sunlight is fine with red sphagnum.
