Hi there!

Almost a 3 months ago, my D. spatulata sent up 3 flowerstalks.
I have been testing tapping them over paper to see if the seeds are ripe, but none of them are.
How long should it take?
Should they be ripe by now?

Thanks!

One way to tell for sure is when the whole flower stalk turns brown. If all the flowers have been closed for a while you can remove the flower and dry it faster by putting it in folded paper. To tell really, is watch for the flowers to stop swelling, then test one at a time.

You can pluck each flower individually from the plant if you think it's far a long enough and also put those in folded paper.

Good luck Bannaman, my experience is limited, but Sundewman is my inspiration :).

By the sound of what you are saying, it looks like you may have missed the seed already. It's possible that the seed pods broke open and dispersed quite some time ago.
