Flytraps really aren't an indoor plant. They require the various changes in temperature, daylight, and humidity throughout the seasons to be happy and healthy. Plus they have to be able to go dormant in winter to rest and regain energy for the growing season ahead.

I know that it's smack dab in the middle of winter in the northern hemisphere (which is where I assume you are located), and the temperatures may or may not be too cold for Seltin to survive. Therefor sticking it outside right now might not be an option.

Your best bet, if you live in an area that gets a hard freeze in winter, is to grow it under a proper light until the Spring Thaw. I'm growing my seedlings under a CFL bulb myself until about mid March. By then my area (Southern NC) will be warm enough for even seedlings to flourish outside.

You can get CFL's at Lowe's or Home Depot (if you live in the US) or most any hardware store. Just make sure that the bulb is close enough to the plant to give it proper lighting, but not so close as to burn the plant. Then, when Spring comes and it's no longer freezing out at night, you can find a nice sunny spot for Seltin to grow.

Yeah, I've been told that pool filter sand is a more viable option.

The pot is small and will go from wet to dry fairly quickly, I would repot in spring, or sooner if you grow it under lights through this winter. Put it outside in spring being careful to acclimate it to sun and temperature.

Cheers

Well it looks like all the traps are closed and it may be do to shipping but for the future only close one trap a week. Lots of sun and distilled water and you will have a very healthy plant.

Your plant looks great. Nice and healthy. And loving it's new home. May I ask where you got it ? And is it a specific cultivar.

It looks like you used spaghnum moss, which is good.

But if you ever get to the point where you will use peat moss and something else, just make sure you do not use anything that has fertilizers in it, including do not use regular potting soil.

Other than the soil, just water with the appropriate water also, such as rain, distilled water, or Reverse Osmosis water.

Then why did you read an entire post called "how does it look" which obviously sounds like someone new asking questions. So yes to anyone who knows a good amount about cultivating you won't learn anything new. This may be a shock but no one forced you to read this, or login, or be rude. All of those were your choices
