How Do You Take Care Of U. Calycifida?

I've a few questions about how to grow them:
1. What kind of soil is best for them? (peat/perlite, peat/sand, or sphagnum)
2. How much light do they need? (Will my Yescoms be too much?)
3. Could I keep the plants bagged since the humidity indoors isn't very high?
4. What temperature range is best for them, and what temperatures should I avoid?

They are not too demanding and not terribly picky about soil as long as it’s not super heavy. Mine is in leca at the moment and has tolerated it (not recommend though) but I’m planning to repot in sphagnum. The leaves will burn in intense light. Off to the side of a yescom would probably work but not right under it. They prefer humidity but mine is doing just fine in regular household ~40% humidity. You can bag it for gradual acclimation but it won’t need to stay bagged for long. They are tropical, so avoid going below 50 degrees (f).

Does the sphagnum need to be cut into smaller pieces, or is it fine for it to be in long pieces?

How deep should the pot be?

I don't think pot size generally matters that much for utrics. I just got my calycifida a few days ago, but all of my others are in pretty standard 2.5"W x 3.5"D pots and haven't had any issues. If anything, I'd imagine shorter pots would be better to keep the top from drying out. As for soil, I haven't looked to see if calycifida has a specific preference, but mine are in a mix of lfs and live sphagnum right now. Strand size shouldn't really matter imo, but just as a general rule for smaller pots I usually break longer lfs strands so they pack a little better.

Caly is an easy, cool growing, lower light utric. I keep mine in a closed tote inside my highland area planted in sphagnum moss and they do well and bloom quite a bit.

Is this a flower stalk:

Do the flowers drain energy from the plant, or can I just let them grow?

Can't tell if it is or not personally, but you can let them flower. Most people say the only plants that actually may need their stalks cut are VFTs anyway; most other plants aren't overly hindered by them.

Are U. calycifida flowers self-fertile? I have a flower stalk growing:

Will the flowers self pollinate, or do they need something to pollinate them?

f they're the same as sandersonii, they need a pollinator I believe. My sandersonii has had many flowers, but they all eventually die and never make seed.

IIRC, U. calycifida blooms are self-compatible but require manual pollination.

How do I pollinate it? Which parts are the anthers and which part is the stigma?
