Hi I got a venus flytrap from the store and im not quite sure how to take care of it

Most of the ends seem to be dead, so I cut them off but theres at least 2 that are still alive and thriving. One of them ive put a recently killed fly in there, and I stimulated the hairs so that the trap would close, but I guess the plant wasnt convinced that there was anything in its mouth so it opened back up the next day. Ill try to find a fly thats alive soon. I dont know if I have the best set up for it, but this is what it has right now. The sun in the morning is pretty strong, but it goes away after a while. Im not sure if im supposed to leave it in water but because of the sun the water evaporates and i have to refil it every afternoon once the sun goes down so that the water touches the bottom of the pot.
