Hello, my name is John, I am located in Marietta GA.

I picked up a couple Venus fly trap seeds 3 months ago, then a couple Venus fly trap adult plants, then a variety of plants from sarracenia psittania to leucos and drosera, which led me to Nepenthes, which led me to Heliamphoras, which has led me to trying to do some sarracenia and nepenthes seeds over the winter, inside.

Looking forward to this journey and to filling my yard with some native sarracenia!

Thank you for the welcome!

I did see the Facebook post, thank you for sharing! I have told myself I have to stop buying plants until my current seeds have germinated and sprouted! Oh the agony 🤣 :D …. But I am definitely keeping a mental list of plants I want in the future!!

My D Capellaris has boomed, but my filliformis and intermedia both died in about two weeks. I guess I did something wrong there. At one point I knocked over the tray holding them when the fillifornis looked like it was rebooting but since then it’s just turned more brown. They didn’t look that healthy when I received them either though so who knows.

My thought process is I should have a large variety and make as many mistakes as early as I can to try and learn what not to do. So go big at the start. Maybe it’s the wrong idea, who’s to say

@John W Filiformis and Intermedia are temperate plants, which means they go dormant for the winter.

I can almost assure you they didn't die, as all the leaves die back and they form tiny hibernaculum.

The following are not my pics, but they provide a clear view of what dormant sundews look like:

I hope you didn't throw them away just yet ;)

I haven’t thrown them away yet, I’m stubborn and was going to wait until spring just to make sure they were really dead. Good to know they are supposed to die back and might not be dead-dead.

Hoping to fill it all the way up this spring and fix that problem 😁 Planning on running those grow lights this winter and get a head start with all the sarracenia seeds I’ve got. Hopefully plenty to give away as gifts

@maxVFT looks like they all came back - I can easily see their hibernaculum and even some small growth. The intermedias are dead though I think.
