I would love to see them!

D.m “VC Toucan” looks almost identical to Bloody Nurse! Wonder how colorful toucan gets.

Hi Adrien, nurse is looking good. Curious how many leaves that you have fed have survived the feeding without turning black and dying? My BN probably throws up a new trap once a week and I always have 1 to 3 at a time that are eating. I have only had one that has digested and reopened without dying. Here’s a pic from a couple weeks ago:

What are you feeding them? The bigger the meal, the sooner the trap will die. Each trap essentially has a limit on how much nutrition it can absorb. Once that is exceeded, the trap dies.

It’s almost always gonna die when you feed it. The seal it produces isn’t good enough and it rots away, I’m sure it does get some nutrition though.

Hi Panman, I understand trap size and food size relationships. I feed all my plants pretty much without issue. I feed them houseflies and medium sized spiders, all live. The Bloody Nurse is different. It has relatively large traps, 1.25” to over 1.5” so oversize food isn’t it. It seems to get so distorted forming a seal that the trap just destroys itself. The plant is very vigorous and clearly gets a boost from eating. I’m just wondering if this is occurring with everybody.

Interesting, I haven’t seen that at all on mine. Bet it’s just one-off anomaly. Kinda cool in it’s own way with that super clean edge on each side. On a similar note, my Goliath just opened a new trap that looks like it has some minor fusing of a few teeth.
