Keep in mind, if they are red, I mean DARK red, as a couple of mine are, I didnt' even see them against the peat background until the shiny shell of the seed was standing off of the soil. Red sprouts hide well. You may have some and not know it!

Just could not resist sayin', the older babies are coloring up soo nicely! Traps are coming out and there are tinges of pinkish orange on the edges of the leaves!

Right, sorry everybody, last Sunday I forgot to post pictures and then I was away at the beach.... Anyway, here are the seedlings at Week 5! I did get some red ones, three at last count. There is also one with spotty color outside the traps, and one that has sort of banana traps, see the first picture. First time successfully growing flytraps from seeds, hope they grow into adults! Also, one question to you--- I am currently using a 3500k t5 (not HO) and they seem to be doing fine, you judge. Do I need to switch to 6500k, or could I just see how they do? Thanks! Also some pictures of a Carolina wren that came into our utility room  Nice birds though! And a skink which I watched nab a cricket, after he ate he had a gigantic bulge in his belly and was a lot slower. Still bit me though.

Yeah, I could not believe it as I watched it swallow the cricket. The cricket was about one inch long, and filled up the skinks entire midsection.

Hi. For lights. Its ok to leave it alone. Its more towards the red spectrum. 6500k will be more towards blue spectrum. As long there is light. Plant grows.

However the next time. U can consider a mixture of 3000k and 6500k tubes

Yeah, I knew it was more towards the red section, I will get my other fixture set up with 6500k bulbs before I put it in. Thanks!

How my seedlings look is how they ought to look. Anything else is most likely not a vft.

Next update! :D Now, just to clarify, that white stuff on the soil with the wetter peat moss IS mold, right? The dry peat is where I used a fan to dry it out. (thanks tish!) And today I watered it because I was scared it was too dry for the seedlings to live. It was just barely moist underneath the surface of the soil. Any more help would be appreciated! Also, I caught another wren. I am AMAZED that they have not learned yet. Didn't take a photo this time.

Yeah, it did dry fast, I accidentally killed one seedling. :( Oh well, at least it was only one that died. Also, everybody, I JUST NOW had another seed sprout! I planted these on the 22 of august! That is around six weeks, so don't give up hope if you have some and they have not sprouted yet.

On a happier note, my capensis seeds have sprouted! Thank you ironjaws! It is not worth taking a picture yet, as the sprouts are actually the same size as a vft seed. Very pleased with my success growing cps from seed. I just hope I can grow them to maturity!
