My mom gave me leftovers of garlic that was going to sprout so I planted them in some bags and let them grow for a few months this is how they look now

I love fresh garlic, but there are some steps to get good garlic.
Plant it in the ground in fall. It is a bulb after all.
As it grows in the spring, just watch it. It's really unremarkable, but the reward is worth the wait. Cut off any flower scapes, that redirects the energy back to the bulb. (Just like a VFT)
Once the leaves are about half yellowed, dig the bulbs up and let them cure for about six weeks.
After that you either store them to eat, or store them until fall and replant them.
I currently have five varieties growing.
