Put some fresh s purpurea seeds in w some live sphagnum to stratify. Took them out today to warm up and turns out the sphagnum froze. Will the seeds still germinate or should i start a new batch?

Purpurea var purpurea live in very cold regions and the seeds will frequently freeze, so unless your freeze was something quite extraordinary, then they should be fine. How long were they frozen? and when you say took them out to 'warm up' do you mean to plant and if so how long have you stratified them for.
If the seeds are Purpurea venosa or Montana the result may be different as they are less cold tolerant.

Cheers

Hello,
The seeds were taken straight from a bog in northern New York. They've been stratifying for 4-5 weeks now, so I'm getting ready to plant them. The sphagnum moss they were with was frozen pretty solid so I got concerned lol. I know they weren't frozen for that whole time though.
