Flytraps from seed

I sowed the seeds back in January 20th and here I decided to post some updates on their development.

My fltraps receive 4 hours of direct sunlight per day plus the rest of the day under artificial light for a period of 12 hours.

wow! those are way bigger then my flytraps i also planted around januaryish. i think i don't have enough light. congrats on growing the red flytrap by the way!

Awesome they look very well developed for their age and super healthy too good job. What lights and wattage are you using?

Im using 40W 6500k For 10 hours in south windowsill plus 6 hours of direct sunlight outside. And feeding them once per week

Wow I thought you would of been using some high output lights based on your results. Seems like the perfect ratio.

Very nice progress!!! I sowed a dozen or so seeds about a month ago and they’re just not germinating!

Also, impressive with your purple VFT! Im no expert but isn’t it rare that seeds produce something other than a typical VFT? Nice!

No, not rare if the genetics of the parent plants are right. Our Special Red Flytrap Seed Mix usually has about 2 out of 3 babies inheriting the red-leafed genetic trait.

However, it is important to remember that no seed-grown plant can be genetically identical to the parent plant. In that sense, they are all "typical" flytraps until or unless they are chosen and named.
