After an experimental overwinter in the cold basement windowsill, my VFT is growing strong! Is this a future flower?

I would cut the flower stalk off. Flower stalks take up a lot of the plants energy and can kill even very healthy vets. If you cut the flower stalk off and stick it into the ground baby vfts may grow from it.

So, should I risk letting it flower? My kids are excited to see it, but they wouldn’t want to let the plant die. These plants are part of science class for them.

Edit: I’ve decided to cut it off. There will be plenty of other flowers to dissect soon with spring bulbs popping up!

Be sure to stick the flower stalk in the pot with the vft and maybe get some baby vfts! Some people recommend laying it down sideways, some recommend straight up but I've only tried doing it once with no success.

I dipped the tip in rooting hormone and plan to keep the immediate area constantly moist for a week.
