After some research, I found out that "Shefdin" means "Boss Dean" in bulgarian. Man, sometimes Chefdean is kinda bossy..........

Well, duh! Have you met me?
Wait, no you haven't, only Matt, Leah, and Drummer230 have. Drummer came to my place, so I did boss him around. Had him digging holes and such.
However, when I met Matt and Leah, it was at Matt's parents place, so I was very respectful. In fact, Matt bossed me around while we were assembling the rafters for the greenhouse.

Exoskeletons are not dissolved ... at least not completely. That's why the dead carcasses of insects are common on cps -- especially indoor grown ones, as there is no rain to wash the dead remains away. Chitin is a very tough substance.

Many plants, including cps, do produce chitinases (enzymes to break down chitin) but it appears to function more as a means of defense against fungi. (Mushrooms contain chitin in their cell walls rather than cellulose like plants do.) Course, that doesn't mean cps couldn't have adapted it to help digest prey. Haven't found any studies on the matter. If cp's do use chitinases on their insect prey, I suspect it only dissolves through the thinner areas allowing the other enzymes to get to the insects' gooey center.

Thank you!! This picture is from a couple years ago and they were beautiful. I kept them just a few inches under a simple dome lamp. Excited to grow more of these in the future! The only seedgrown sundew survivor I have left from this time period is D. capensis Big Pink x self who is similarly very colorful
