I don't know if it's just me, but whenever a bug evades capture and escapes, it bothers me how much energy the poor Flytrap just spent for nothing.

A grower with 1 Venus Flytrap, 1 D. Capensis, and one Nepenthes singalana x ventricosa.

I am glad if it is a bee that escapes.
I dont often see this though as mine are all outside.

Not particularly. I sometimes prank my friends when showing off my plants by triggering a trap and howling in pain when it bites my finger.

It is not too harmful for the plant unless it gets repeated false triggers. This happens in the wild all the time which is why the trigger hairs need extra stimulation after the initial trap closure.

No, it's nature in action. A bee was caught in one of mine this summer. After a few hours I saw that it had escaped. It won, the trap lost. That's life.

Japanese Beetles always escape my traps because they are so much stronger than the slight tension holding the trap closed. I hate to see them arrogantly squeeze out of the trap and fly off.
