DC XL vs SD Kronos

I got a SD Kronos and it seems to be growing happily. It has big traps too! However, I don’t have a DC XL and was wondering how the two match up. Any thoughts?

Based on my observations, DCXL appears to grow more vigorous with fatter and deeper roots than SD Kronos, overall a better performer, but I've had my DCXL traps longer than the SD Kronos. This season will be a better comparison, but so far it looks like DCXL is still in the lead even though we are still a good 3-4 months away from when they should reach their peak trap sizes.

What is the best performing flytrap? Also how does DC XL stack up compared to flytraps such as Low Giant, B52, A2, FTS towering giant, and FTS maroon monster?

There really is no best, buy them all and find out what grows best for you in your conditions.

I’m not trying to find the best giant that works for me (ok... maybe a little!). I’m wondering what giants get giant and are vigorous for a lot of different people in different climates.

DCXL, B52, G16, Deep Red Guerilla, Wally and Ginormous are the most vigorous and grow the biggest for me.

It's meaningless though, your conditions are different than mine.

Not meaningless if you are breeding a VTF that gets giant in more different conditions then any other flytrap!

B-52 is my choice for #1 best vigorous and decently large flytrap easily my favorite (and our first) we have in the house consistently one of our best growers (and has divided like crazy)

For me B52 has the meatiest traps (not bigger per se) but DCXL grows faster/more vigorous.

Conditions change what you end up with, even if you are next door neighbors growing the same plants.

yep I agree, our DX XL's are getting pretty big this should be the year they explode for us (they were younger plants than our B-52s) some of our biggest the past two years were B-52, DC XL, jaws and DC XL Pinnacle also was up there with the others just not as robust a plant so way fewer traps reaching those big marks on the scale

My Pinnacle has always been a big disappointment, grows slow, doesn't divide, not vigorous, small traps, spindly petioles and one of the last ones to wake up from dormancy.

My Jaws is pretty nice but nowhere near as nice as B52 and DCXL.

100% agreed on Pinnacle the first plants the kid got were 3 mature b-52's and 1 pinnacle.... how lackluster that pinnacle was/is/has remained and still is.
