As for bees, I wouldn't feed them bees because they have been known to get their way out of traps.
The traps closing (except for the one with the bee in it) will be fine. A couple may turn black but more will grow back!!!

Just because they pollinate plants does not mean they can't be eaten by traps. Yes, like dantt99 said, they can get out of the traps with their strong jaws, plus their size alone could make it difficult for small traps to eat. These plants eat all sorts of insects in the wild on their own, and I'm sure every once in awhile a plant catches a bee or two.

Bottom line is, if you feed it to your plant, and it kills a trap, continue feeding it at your own risk. It may have just been a fluke, or it may have been that the plant didn't "agree" with it. Good luck, and happy growing.

I can see where hes coming from, i personally wouldnt PURPOSELY feed a plant a bee.
So many other non beneficial insects to PURPOSELY feed plants with.
Bees need to thrive, theres a world wide decline of them.

NB:- i stress purposely.

If you want to get scientific, bees are becoming endangered and also contain a mite than can spread to plants (onoes doom!) BUT that is another matter for another topic.

Traps close on prey, and may later die regardless of what is inside. After a certain number of catches a trap will die and be replaced by new leaves and traps. Some items of prey may cause a trap to die upon first feeding, this could be due to it being bad for the plant, eating its way out or a variety of other reasons.

Bottom line is: Don't worry if a trap dies after feeding, it is perfectly normal! =]
