Cape sundews don’t produce dew

I am new to sundews. These are the first sundews that I had. They are all D.capensis. First I had them in a place with very few hours of direct sunlight because this summer was very hot, like 38°C in the peak and I have heard that cape sundews don’t like temperatures above 30°C. I have them in a red container too so it gets even hotter. Now that the temperature dropped I put them in a much sunnier place. The thing is that the had dew but they were greener. Now the tentacles are turning red but don’t produce dew. Is this some watering problem or humidity problem? Also I live in Greece.

The plants look fine. They are likely just acclimating to the full sunlight. Watch the new leaves. They should come in with few.

The new leafs are the ones that don’t produce dew. But if you mean the leaves that will be produced in the near future, then it will be good.

The plants do look healthy. Not sure about all the technicals of raising sundews, yet, but it seems a pot of capillaris that I have and grows in full sun seems to do well on being constantly wet...standing in a couple of inches of water while in a 6" tall pot. Even though your temperatures are cooler than they were the plant is now in a higher light situation. Maybe it is using more of its water supply for photosynthesis than it was using while in the more shaded area and thus taking away from dew production? Just a newbie thought. ;)

Regarding temps and sunlight, I was afraid that the summer temps (90s) in Arizona would kill my sundews but they thrived in 12 hours of full sun. I did make sure to keep the pots in about 2" of water at all times. I was keeping them in a sunny window at first and the leaves wouldn't produce any dew. After a week in direct sun the leaves were happy and dewy.

Sometimes they take a while to produce dew. I just got my new sundews in the mail a week ago, and they’re just now starting to produce dew. Dew production also has to do with humidity. If it’s not humid enough, it will be harder for them to produce dew.
Living here in coastal Texas, there is plenty of humidity (in my opinion too much to live comfortably), so plants like sundews should thrive.

I noticed that Drosera capensis likes lower night time temperatures to cool off a bit. During extended summer heat waves, they can struggle, especially if they don't sit in water. When it's around 15°C during the night, they thrive even when daylight temperature climbs well above 30°C.
