Agree that Brita filter is NOT a good filter for CP's. I have one and also have a TDS meter. My tap water is about 150 TDS (varies a bit) but if I run it through Brita, it drops the TDS maybe to 140. That is not enough and not worth the cost or time.

I use Zero Water filter and strongly recommend it. The filters do wear out over time and need to be replaced. I get 40+ gallons from a filter, but sometimes use rain water as well and run it through the filter to get rid of the junk in the rain sometimes. It beats running to the store for water every few days and might be a little bit cheaper than distilled for me.
