Baby Toe Plant Trouble

Hi I just got a baby toe plant (fenestraria) and repotted it in a mineral mix and I was told to wait a week before watering it (its in a terracotta pot) but I live in North Carolina and we have been getting a severe heatwave this week and I read that fenestraria like to drink when the weather is cool and wont drink when the weather is hot and it could cause rot..but mine as new growth all over it ..is it safe to water?..or should I wait until the majority of the plant is wrinkly? Or wait until the weather cools down?..I had another one and I wasn't watering it hardly at all and the roots dried up and I had it in direct sun (like an idiot I thought its from Africa it can take the heat boy was I wrong) It wasn't wrinkly so I figured it didn't need water .. The plant in question sits in an eastern window and gets plenty of morning sun..
