It was raining this morning and after I went outside to check on my plants I saw that my VFT had these weird ass bugs clinging to the new vertical leaf it was growing. They looked like pests so I squished them with some tweezers, but were they aphids or something? Haven't had to deal with pests yet....

Haha, ok, sounds good, thanks man! It was just weird seeing these little black dots crawling around my plants. My plants don't look damaged or like their sap has been sucked out, so I'll see. Just in case, what kind of pesticide should I pick up from the store? I know people mentioned systemic ones, do you just buy one, dilute it, spray, AND water the plant with it? Or do you just spray the leaves?

That's an aphid. Submerge the entire pot and plant in water for 24 to 48 hours and it will usually get rid of them.
