Lately I've been doing a lot of research trying to find new plants to buy this year but its made me wonder: how often are cultivars misidentified? The specific plant that got me wondering about this is Sarracenia 'Cronus'. Not only is it strange in that the nursery went to the trouble of getting it officially registered as a cultivar only to sell it using a different name, but most of the pictures I've found that were taken by people outside the producing nursery don't seem to match the plant description. They generally show tall thin pitchers with almost no red coloration whereas the official description is for tall, stout pitchers with deep red veins.

Is anyone familiar with this cultivar? Am I just imagining things?
