As some of you will notice, the previous contest was removed at my request. I found that there were negative implications of using the dislike button for voting. So the competition is the same but there are two changes to the rules. 1. USE THE LIKE BUTTON TO VOTE. 2. Only votes from members with 5 or more comments will count (don't ask because I don't want to discuss it). If you previously posted, please do so again. And about the Maxsea post, don't change a thing. :D So, with no further ado, I give you the April Photo Contest Rebooted.

Over the past year and a half, we have had some great pictures in our monthly photo contest. This month will be a little different. In honor of April's Fool Day, we want to see your worst picture! It can be of a CP disaster, terrible photographic technique, a really bad play on words, anything that you can think of. It just needs to be bad (but tasteful. Keep it PG, please).

Here are the submission rules:
1. It must be your own picture.
2. You can only submit one photo for this contest.
3. Pictures shared in previous contests are not eligible.
4. Minimally edited photos only. No effects, or filters. Cropping is okay.
5. The winner will be the entry with the highest number of thumbs UP (likes) votes.
6. Only votes from members with at least 5 posts will count.
7. This contest is open internationally, although there will be an alternate prizes for international winners.

Up for grabs this month is a Low Giant Venus Flytrap
Image

From The Flytrap Store:
The Low Giant Venus Flytrap clone is a spectacular plant that produces very large traps (rivaling even the B52) with broad leaves that grow prostrate (near the ground) year round in dense rosettes. It often develops a very deep red color in the traps.

Low Giant is well named. It is a vigorous grower, but the leaves remain low to the ground all during the growing season, unlike most Venus Flytraps that grow more upright during the warmer period of Summer. This prostrate type of growth tends to look neater and more sturdy than the thinner, more upright growth on other Venus Fly Traps. Low Giant is a large plant with extra-large traps. The traps of Low Giant are very large, among the largest of all Venus Flytraps, and the plants can be very colorful.
Thank you again to @Matt and Leah from The Flytrap Store for providing these amazing prizes.

Here is an example of what you might submit:

Sarracenia alata Night at night

I'm all set to start potting up my new flytraps. I just finished transplanting the pygmy sundews and have the nepenthes water trays filled with tap water. It's going to be a great season.

The time has come to once and for all acknowledge the unsung heroes of the carnivorous plant world, those unfairly excluded plants who work themselves to the bone catching and killing insects with their sticky leaves, entertaining us with their flowers, and even lending sweet scents to our undeserving olfactory glands. For too long they have been shut out of all the savage garden fun based on silly technicalities about lacking digestive enzymes or some nonsense. Who are we to relegate them to subcarnivorous status? No one, that's who. I present to you the newest member of the CP family, the genus Petunia.

Who says 13 is unlucky? My youngest after she was kidnapped and made over by friends on her 13th birthday.
Yes, she went to school like this.

This is the child who said I like plants more than I like her. I agreed, because plants don't talk back.

One picture that shows all the wrong in this world. One picture that tries to explain how many traps have been nibbled, pooped and peed on. Been fighting mouse and squirrels alike. And I have been loosing. Like my picture for sympathy. Like my picture to honor the plants who died fighting the good fight. Like it so I get a new plant to feed to the rodents. Lol...

If the member casting the vote does not have at least 5 posts on the forum, showing that they're an active member, their vote will not count.

Oops. Fixed it. The system glitched a bit, so you may get a couple of notifications.

So, don't you think my N. Rafflesiana is looking good! Not sure if it's the 5x strength Miracle-Gro or watering it with Ethanol gasoline, but it's doing great, wouldn't you agree? (Dramatization.....no plants were harmed in the making of this joke!)ImageImage

I'm impressed! Most N. Rafflesiana take only premium gas.
