Hello, I read in another topic that akai ryu and other types of red Venus flytrap cultivars are more sensitive to heat. Is this true? If so, can I do something else to help them grow better over here Texas? I was planning on getting an Akai Ryu plant but it might get too hot where I live :|

That's an interesting assertion! Can you please provide a link to the topic where you read that? I've not noticed anything related to heat and particular flytraps being more sensitive to it.

Idk if 'Pink' is an official cultivar, but it just came out of dormancy, and it's currently growing its first spring trap. It was doing really well last summer in full texas sun

Sorry guys, I couldn’t find the link. I searched around for a while. But your replies make me feel better about growing red varieties in hotter areas. Thanks

Like Matt said, there's no noticeable difference between growing red varieties and green varieties in hot climates. I grow mine here in florida where summer temps hit the nineties every day and they've been growing strong for years.
