I very recently got a venus fly trap and have him sitting in my kitchen. I have many plants and thought the fly trap would help with my fly problem. However, i live with my younger siblings and my 20yo brother fed it a small piece of pepperoni. I know venus flytraps can be a bit delicate and this is the first one ive cared fo so im really scared. The trap has closed around the pepperoni so itd be difficult to remove without damaging the plant.

Oh no! You have to get that outa there before the digestive enzymes kick in or else it might kill the plant! Worst case scenario you have to cut of the trap. Did that with my first flytrap and it died shortly afterwards as I recall.

Edit: What MaxVft said. If you have a problem with fly’s I suggest getting either a nepenthes or a sundew as they can grow great inside.

Cut off the trap immediately, it will be fine. Also try to keep it outside 24/7 with direct sunlight facing the plant for at least 4 or 5 hours a day, indoor light is very bad for them and they will not survive as long.
