This is my Venus Flytrap collection as of the summer of 2017. It started in 2012 with a single flytrap and has gotten kinda out of hand. First picture is a 30 inch pot of typicals. I grew these plants from less than 10 original plants purchased at Lowes. They were TC plants that had multiple plants per pot. I took them out and planted them separately. I bought a single flytrap from a local nursery also. After three growing seasons I had quite a few pots full. This spring I dug everything up and planted them in one big pot. There are a few seed grown plants scattered about in there too. More on that later.

About clay ceramic pots. Some I've always read that clay can leach into the soil and harm carnivorous plants, I cover the inside with a spray on rubber coating. I use Plasti Dip brand. It is toxic when wet but dries to a food safe and thus plant safe inert coating. It has worked for flytraps and Sarracenia for me.

Pot of Maroon Monsters. It started as a single plant from the Flytrap Store. Upon receipt of the plant I took it out of the pot and divided it into numerous individual plants. They were all very small and it is risky to do that but the risk was worth the reward. Three growing season later and boom, here they are.

Pot of DCXLs. Same as the Maroon Monsters. I bought a single plant and divided it into 8 small plants. They were tiny. This is the fourth growing season for them. I have a nice ceramic pot for them to move into next spring. Colored or decorative plastic pots dont last more than 2 years for me before they get brittle.

Some corrections. The flytraps in the big pot are on their fourth growing season, not third. There are also plants in there that are self divisions of bigger plants and they are different sizes and ages.

The DCXLs started with 8 small plants and I further divided them after the first two years. There are probably around 15 plants in that pot if not more.

These two pots are full of flytraps grown from seeds produced in 2016. I have no idea how many there are but I would guess a couple thousand at least. I have a feeling the biggest plants have a little DCXL dna in them. I cut the Maroon Monster flower stalks so they would all be green but other than that I let nature take its course. The seeds were from typicals and DCXLs cross pollinated naturally by insects. I don't know what I'm gonna do with all of them. I am gonna separate the biggest plants from the rest and see how big they get.

How long have you been using the Plasti Dip? I've got a big metal tub I want to turn into a bog and need something to line it with. Your idea may just be what I'm looking for.

I used the Plasti Dip on one smaller pot last year and the big pot this growing season with no problems. This is from the Plasti Dip website:

"Plasti Dip does not contain any heavy metals, and when completely dry, is considered harmless. However, it is not recommended that it be used on items that may be chewed or inserted into the mouth as it may present a choking hazard."

I also researched other products like Plasti Dip and all of them should be safe for lining carnivorous plant pots.
