I found this nepenthes seedling in the pot with my D. Spatualata 'Pink Flower' in early fall. At first, I thought it was a drosera seedling (Capensis are everywhere), but it was much too pale. I let it grow for a month and it started developing pitcher-like leaves. I then decided to seperate it into a different pot with the same soil mix of 75:25 peat and perlite. I'm thinking that it's a lowlander because of its quick growth and tolerance for peat moss. It also seems suspiciously like a Rafflesiana... What do you think?

IMO, that is extremely cool.

It's probably way too young to determine the species tho.

You're right that it's a lowlander (the way the leaf and pitcher are fused together is pretty telling of that) but you won't be able to make any further guesses about its parentage until it's larger. Any idea how the seed got in there?

I've seen a lot of hitchhikers in my day, not all of them appreciated, but I think that is the first nepenthes hitchhiker I've seen.

I have never heard of a nepenthes hitchiker before either... Their seeds expire way too fast.
For some odd reason, this one was still able to germinate.
I beleive that it was fresh, created just before my sundew was shipped.
Counting to infinity.
