I bought the super mega heavy duty ones from them. They are like $8 a piece. But believe me, they are amazingly strong.

More like super mega strong, am I right?
But yeah, you should buy from the farm megastore, they have them at really good prices, at least compared to the black ones you can find at hardware stores(5 dollars for a flimsy black one where I live).

I can't believe black trays are so cheap and white ones are hard to find, and you have to buy a minimum of 5. I forgot when I bought these gray trays for my Sarracenia's I ordered 2. So one just became my new tray for the VFT's.

Do you think these will work?

The black trays are so cheap because they are thin and, well, cheap. They are used by mass growers who don't need all of the support that you find with the white trays. There are black trays with comparable durability but they are about $6 a piece.

Dark colored plastic is made from cheap recycled stuff just add dark dye to make it a solid color. White treys are from virgin plastic that cost a lot more.

They will work but compare to the 10” x 20” (aka 1020) trays, there is wasted space. In a 1020, you can easily fit 8 of those 5x5x7 inch Hydrofarm pots you use. That makes for better efficient use of space, and also the top forms a nice solid area where rain has to go through the media to get to the tray. Not sure that second part matters, but I like it for that reason. Minimizes on evaporation, in my opinion also.

I think I will use the gray ones for a temp fix, and order the white trays. I plan on using all 5x5x7" white pots for all my plants next year when I do my repotting, so will change then. So you use the white trays in the planters?

Yep, I think I made the opening like 11.5” x 22 inches or so. I lay the 1020 trays down in the area, then put the plants, then water them. The 5x5x7 white pots can be ordered from Matt and Leah, if you need a few. That’s how I got my first ones.

You can sort of see the white trays in the corner, if you zoom in to the photo.

I found a more reasonably priced source for white 1020 trays:

Bootstrap Farmer
https://www.bootstrapfarmer.com/collect ... 1020-trays
$35 for a set of 5 ($7 each)
$65 for a set of 10 ($6.50 each)
$150 for a set of 30 ($5 each)

Greenhouse Megastore also sells them, at $65 for a set of 5 ($13 each).
Many of their product prices have gotten ridiculous lately, and I stopped ordering from them.
