Scarlatine Venus Fly Trap

Scarlatine

Cerberus

Cerberus is a Venus fly trap cultivar similar to Mirror which forms small traps on the side or backside of the main trap. The distinction between Cerberus and Mirror is that Mirror sometimes rarely forms the small additional traps, whereas Cerberus forms them with predictable regularity. Cerberus was discovered by Stephan Glied in 2010 from a batch of seeds and has been propagated and distributed by Michael Ermel in Germany.

Cerberus is a multi-headed dog or "hellhound" in Greek and Roman mythology which guards the entrance to the underworld, preventing the dead from escaping and the living from entering. It has a mane of snakes, a serpent's claws and lion's claws. Definitely a fitting name for this menacing looking multi-headed Venus flytrap!
