Just curious about some of the cultivars out there. Anyone have any input? Not trying to offend anyone here.

in this thread you will find 90808 varying opinions based on both just personal opinion or how well or not well a plant grew for them that may be vastly different than the next person.

I've not grown a huge variety myself so far in our first growing season but I understand why people love B-52's considering the growth we had over the summer on ours!

Yep. Every cultivar with a name impressed someone at some point.

I don't think I've ever grown a cultivar that I wondered why someone had bothered to name it. Some cultivars impress me less than others, but I can usually understand why any given plant was named.

I love my FTS Archangel. Don't hear about it too often. It's always got great color and I like the arching traps. How could you not like this one?

wally is incredibly underrated IMO. i just said that the other day. it has amazing color and vigor and is quite hardy. if you like low growers, it's wally all the way.

Flaming Lips i think is also underrated. it is by far my most colorful plant and an excellent hunter.

Super large traps are overrated in my opinion but I'm sure there's gotta be a little something wrong it that pile of mush I have in my skull :P

I also think Angel Wings is underrated. I really want an angel wings, it's so aesthetic-ish.
Can they actually digest bugs if you put them in the right spot where the "plant meat" of the 2 halves touch together?

I came across this video by some guy whose name is kind of familiar :) that may answer your question. It seems they are not truly capable of being carnivorous. As pretty as it is, I have no interest in a non-carnivorous VFT.

That said, Alien is supposed to have trouble eating due to its teeth but mine catches small bugs all the time. Maybe it's because the teeth aren't so rigid/pointed in on my starter plant, but regardless it's an awesome looking cultivar and I adore it. And I am sure I will pick up Angel Wings one day because, let's face it, I'm obsessed.
