Good job there! Have you ever tried to culture any species in the Drosera indica complex? I bought D. hartmeyerorum from two different sources and both times the plant dissolved into grey goo in about two weeks time. I washed and rinsed it repeatedly for 30 - 45 minutes. I planted it in sterilized media and pfffttt it was gone.

I used the same procedure on deflasking Drosera slackii and it survives and is growing for me. The only difference I see is slackii is a Perennial and hartmeyerorum is an Annual.

Any thoughts?

Good growing,
Mike

Hey Mike :-)

Thank you for your kind words!

Unfortunately i haven't made any expirience with drosera of the indica complex.

What media do you use for them ?

What about shipping ? Maybe the temperatures were too low for them so they died. Happened also to me once.

Best regards
Lukas

Medium was 1 part peatmoss to 3 parts silica sand. I sterilized it in a pressure cooker 15psi for 45 minutes, then let it cool for several hours. Plant was only watered with distilled water. I ordered them in May and June, from the Czech Republic, so freezing shouldn't have been an issue.

They looked OK at first. Then they kind of went translucent. Then they changed from Green to Green-Grey, then to Grey. Then they melted into a puddle of Grey goo. It was frustrating because I didn't have a clue what I was doing wrong. I still don't know where my error was. After two catastrophic failures, I said the heck with it and concentrated on raising hartmeyerorum from seed.

Good growing,
Mike

Hey Mike, sorry for my late reply just been busy the last few days.

So i didn't understand you correct. I thought you were replating these onto fresh Media for tissue culturing. Unfortunately i never expirienced something like this. I guess you lowered the Humidity slowly and started from about nearly 100% ?

What about the light ? Maybe it was a little bit too strong for them. I usually have very low light at the beginning of the acclimation process.

But some cultures aren't that easy to acclimate and have not the survival rate of a batch of D. Capensis. :-/

Thank you Doomsday :-) Some of them yes. I raised the ampullaria 'red' and Veitchii 'Giant' from Seeds. I also own a N. Inermis which i also raised from seeds. All of the other Nepenthes shown i got from trades or ordered online.

Cheers
Lukas

You're welcome! And, sweet! Good work. I like the Heli as well. What vessels are you using? They seem to work really nicely for pictures.

I thought why not use the chance of these few days off and give you some updated Pictures.

So here we go:
Here's a Heliamphora Minor which i got a while back ago of a friend. Lovely to grow these in TC.

How did you sterilize Nepenthes seeds?
May you teach us?
Thank you very much.

Can I ask what mm you used? Did you make it yourself? I found some online, but if I can also just pick up stuff locally, that would be more ideal. Thanks in advance.
