Hello all ,

This is my plant. Is the 4 tall green trees the flower ? How do I remove it if so. I got it last week so it's still in the pot it came in. What's the best sized pot for the plant ? Will the soil alone been sufficient or does it need the moss ?

If anyone owns a more developed species of this fly trap could they post a pictures.

It's been in a big tray compared to the pot and it says to keep the pot in 2cm of water but that seems to much, no ? I have got deionised water.

Thank you in advance for help James

Hello! You have a very nice looking pot of plants. There does not appear to be a flower growing so I am unsure what you are referring to as the possible flower. Your plant is growing next to a sundew that I am unsure if it is a temperate or tropical sundew so they may or may not be suitable for living in the same container, im sure someone else can Identify the sundew.

If you are growin indoors, you can either keep it in the shallow tray of water or not, you will just need to monitor the water more frequently as you don't want it to dry out. Give it as much sun as possible and you should be good to go. Read as much care information in the stickies as you can.

it looks too wet though; that could lead to rot while indoors. I don't leave my plants in standing water while inside; their roots need the oxygen/air flow. if you're talking about the tall twig-looking stuff with the little green things on the end I believe that is coming from the moss. and the other plant with the sticky dewy leaves is a sundew so don't pull that one lol...

I see at least two sundews in there. The big one looks like a Drosera capensis and the small one I can't tell. The VFT will need dormancy while the capensis does not so you may want to separate them into their own pots.

I see 3 sundews (another type of carnivorous plant), the flytrap, which appears to have 4 or 5 divisions and be awaking from dormancy, and carpet moss. I would probably repot it at some point during the upcoming growth season. Those sundews can overgrow them and block the light. They also self pollinate, drop seeds, and proliferate easily. Carpet moss can also overgrow the VFT if kept wet and humid.

You probably shouldn't leave it sitting in a tray of water all the time unless it's very hot. You want the soil to stay damp, but not wet. Give it lots of direct sunlight and check out http://www.flytrapcare.com for all the other important info.
