ive got a pitcher plant but its filled to the top all the time so its pretty hard to tell when they have digested that first bug that got caught.

I think it digests the insects over a couple of months.

What pitcher plant do you have?

Compared to a Venus Flytrap it takes a while. But surely it does. What you'll just see it insect after insect fall into the tubes and pile up. Than if you dissect the pitcher than you'll see the digested and exoskeleton of the what was insect.

so they digest the entire bug?

one of mine has a pitcher thats so full the flies are right near the top. one even managed to get out as its all about 1-2" from the opening

i have video proof, of some pretty frustrated flies. hehe :)
