I'm not sure if any of you are looking for a new camera (Any more)
But if any one is then this camera is inexpensive and great.

It's compact, light weight and good for taking pictures of your plant (the marco is fantastic)
The 12.1 mega pixel camera is amazing for it's price.

So if you're looking for a cheap, but pretty good camera then this one is a good pick.

someone posted here sometime last year about the Canon A590. It was deemed the best deal as it had a really good macro AND you could get the best alternate software for it (for time lapse, multiple focal length sequencing, etc)

Is this still the best camera to get for the amount of functions available in alternate operating system available for it?

I almost bought a used one for $100 from craigslist but someone beat me to it.

So what's the best canon to get for the alternate operating system that's still reasonable?

I ended up getting the G11.. macro seemed to be better on the sd300 elf :(

.. is this due to the larger lens?

I have the Canon T1i Rebel. If you want to go out and spend some money on a REALLY nice camera, I recommend this one.
