Bad Dormancy?

Postby mungomatt » Wed Mar 10, 2010 2:24 am

Hey Guys,

I have a few questions about dormancy because I think my plants might be dead.

During dormancy, i left my plants in my garage. I am not sure how cold it got in there but MD had a cold winter, i am not sure if they went into deep dormancy or not.

I watered them occasionally (moss was moist) but they got no light.

Now its starting to get warmer and sunnier, how long will it take my plants to come out of dormancy (if they are still alive) and how long will it take for it to get some new growths?

Is there any quick way to find out if my VFT's are dead or alive?

Thanks guys,

Matthew

Too see if a plant is really dead dig up the plant and check to see if the Rhizome has a bit of white. If it doesn't you're plant might bounce back but if it's completely mushy and brown it's dead (due to root rot)

brown & mushy = dead. It doesn't get much simpler than that. The rhizome should still be white and crisp - hope that your plants are ok.

Thats a very good sign, just keep more light on them and as the temp bounces back up. They will come out on there own. There is not a set time period for when they come out of dormancy. Generally its a week to a few weeks.
