I know that this is a simple question for many, but the stem when it gets to 3 inch. But how far will it set the plant back? I really want to let my stem grow out and it has a full winter rest but I don't know if it'll just make smaller traps or end up killing the thing.

If your plant is healthy it's not a problem to let it flower.
