Hi everyone. My drosera indica is getting too tall for my growing area. I was wondering if i could cut off the part where it has the green leaves, stem and the growing part, like a byblis, and put it in another pot of fresh media. Would this work? if not, i might have to put it outdoors, which gets me worried because of a lot of reasons. Thank you!

Stem cuttings have been known to work with the indica complex, but the resulting plants are frequently sickly.

I do know that some taxa branch from basal nodes at the base of the petiole with and without having been damaged, not unlike nepenthes. I expect the part with roots should survive at least and regrow. Leave a leaf or two.

It'd be a fun thing to try out anyway!

I've used bamboo kabob skewers and a loose zip tie to prop up a too-tall indica, and it worked great for a while (an indica will eventually die). I haven't had much success snipping and growing indica bits, but I haven't tried much, either. In any case, mine give me too much seed to worry about that

I had a massive communal pot of Drosera finlaysoniana, a member of the D. indica group, this past Summer. When they grew more than 8 inches tall, the whole mass of them started to fall. I put in 3 bamboo skewers, 12 inches long, around the clump of plants ant that kept them standing.

Good growing,
Mike

I think you all are missing the question. It's to big for where he has it and wants to know if he can trim it back. Then plant the trimmings.
