Hello, I have a few pots with larger drain holes.

I would like to use this pot for an African violet. Is it okay to use a thin plastic screen at the bottom of the pot? Some people suggest using a pantyhose, but the pantyhose stretches and it drives me nuts :)

Here's a picture with the screen:

Do you think the screen will do the job for not letting out the bigger chunks of soil?

I think that screen should work fine, or you could use something like landscaping fabric (it's designed to prevent weeds from growing through it.) I have used LFS in the past but avoid it now because I've found it becomes anaerobic very quickly when kept submerged.

Landscape fabric like Nimbulan mentioned is fantastic. If you have any access to silt screen, thats really good too. Ive used it before.
