They grow longer when there's less sunlight because there reaching for light. I have one with VERY long/thin leaves, makes it look very cool IMO.

Just like tanner said, they are reaching. Your plant is "leggy" as they call it. The shade cloth is probably a bit too much. How many hours of sun does it get through this cloth?

There's a few reasons for this. Some cultivars will grow longer petioles naturally, and most flytraps will grow longer ones during summer. The other main reason is that the plant is not receiving enough light. It's possible your 50% shade cloth is blocking too much light, though I realize it's necessary in some regions to prevent the plants from burning to a crisp during summer.

So maybe 30% shade could be better?

Yea the shade cloth may help to acclimate them but once they are used to it, they can handle the full sun/light for hours on end. My VFTs are out for 12-14 hours in light conditions with temperatures reaching over 100-F.

Here in Malaysia. And its about 95.5°F here. Wont the heat burn my flytraps?
