I decided to do a comparison shot of all my red VFT clones. They're just a month out of the refrigerator so the red leaves are mostly new growth. They are growing under my lights in identical conditions.

You may be able to read the names but if not, back row from the left: CPS Pink : BCP Clone A22-12 : Royal Red. Middle row: Red Dragon : FTS Maroon Monster. Front row: Paradisia : Bohemian Garnet.

As you can see, there's not a lot of difference among them at this point. The darkest is clearly "Bohemian Garnet"; the red-ist "Paradisia". Over time, my full spectrum lights tend to make all the reds very dark - which is why I did this now. I'll try to take a second picture in late summer.

For what it's worth.

I'd like to know more about your refrigerator. So you just put them in darkness for winter? In the pot or bareroot?

Take a look at this thread. It's pretty much all there. If you have any specific questions, you can PM me.

Late Summer update: (Except Bohemian Garnet, it's from last year. A lot of the plants took a hit from a spidermite invasion, the Bohemian Garnet is defunct.)

Personally, except for Red Dragon and Paradisia (which probably doesn't belong in this comparison anyway), I'm not seeing much difference in color. Well, maybe Maroon Monster is a bit darker.

And probably because of my growing conditions (or the spidermite infestation), the growth habits appear pretty similar, too.

I guess if you're simply looking for a dark red plant, most of these will do.

The first two almost look completely the same plant. So with stronger light CPS turns dark red right? does that go other way too less light but a still healthy amount of course bring out the pink in the traps i wonder?

Truthfully, I've never seen anything I'd call "pink". It's always been either the mixed green-and-red of early spring or a color I'd call "maroon" or maybe "wine red".

I see I was just wondering since it was so dark. I wonder if only certain tissue clones produce pink. I don't know maybe the name is just a name who knows.

Just as a side note: I think I read that "BCP Clone A12-22" is a second generation Akai Ryu - a seedling produced from an Akai Ryu x Akai Ryu cross - but I can't remember where I read it or find anything else about it. Does anybody have any info?
