Hi, I've been thinking about getting a hanging LED light setup for my plants, but want to know if this will work as I've never done a setup like this before.

I was thinking of getting this stand: http://amzn.to/1CvOu4a and this light: http://amzn.to/1xdMa0k

My main question is, would that light be fine to hang from that stand?

Ok, so just so you know, taotronics is the mid range of LEDs. Not the really cheap useless ones, it is the last step before the super expensive LED panels. Good choice.

That stand looks like it would be fine to hang that light from. You only worry would be weight, which looks fine to me, and dimensions, which also look okay.

I would say go for it. You could always build your own stand out of PVC, but it would not look as good .

You're not going to like the price on this, but here.
http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Platinum ... grow+light

This is the absolute best in LED technology for grow lights. This brand, Advanced Platinum, is the brand my local hydroponics store recommends for LEDs. They have bigger lights, but this is the cheapest in this series. You can fit it on your stand for the other LED.

But the $230 is for the best you can get.

Also, notice that the guy who wrote the single star review then went back and changed it to a five star review.

oh my. lol.

If anything I would prefer to get the 300W one: http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Platinum ... B00NTBS91Y

But i barely spent that much on my plants! I think you would need to be running a business to make this type of investment.

Thanks for your help though! Maybe once I win the lottery!

I love growing CP under LEDs!

The two biggest benefits with this technology is the relatively low heat output and ability to select only photosynthetically-active emitters (red & blue, although having a few white makes a human friendlier color). Combined, I've found that I'm able to get away with vastly lower light wattage than HPS/MH, and even VHO fluorescents, because the fixture can be placed inches above the plants.

I have used the hulls from a couple of fluorescent light aquarium fixtures and replaced the guts with solderless retrofit kits from http://rapidled.com as they are super easy to install. Very little to wire up and you don't need fancy heat sinks when only using 6-12 emitters. Just ask for some of the white LEDs to replaced with blue and reds when ordering. These work great for aquarium-based setups.

Does anyone know if 9 band LED is ok for growing cephs and drosera or does it have to be 12 band? I recently bought a 300w LED but alas... It's 9 band.

As long as the fixture has blue and red (or orange) emitters, it should be fine. Both chlorophyll pigments absorb in those wavelengths (colors). Some white or green emitters makes the fixture easier on the eyes.
