From what I've seen and read here that one's no good for CPs

I don't see anywhere where that says it is pure silica sand. All purpose sand is usually not 100% silica. However, Quikrete pool sand, which is 100% silica, has been suspect in my personal experience anyway. Others have said it has not caused them problems.
