Hi Everyone
First post so please be kind.
If this is in the wrong section please delete.

For 40 something years I have been fascinated by these plants, but each one I have ever bought has only lasted a few days, so inevitably given up as a bad job...
My wife purchased a plant from gardening world, I have replanted in hopefully the correct medium and watered with rain water. But seem to be loosing the battle once again.
Had a look in the shop but everything seems to be out of stock.

So just wondering if anyone could sell be an established hardy plant? Or advise where I can buy one from in the UK?

Thanking you all in anticipation.

First of all, welcome to the forum. We have members from all over the world but most come from America. Hopefully a UK member will pop in and offer a plant or a local source.

What type of CP are you trying to grow? Matt, our Admin has Venus Flytrap grow guides posted here: VFT Basic Care

There is a forum in the UK, CP UK Forum Someone there can probably point you to a local source for CP.

Good growing,
Mike

Hi

First thing I would do before buying any plant is to gather as much information about looking after carnivorous plants
As you can
By your post you seem to be losing alot of plants after a few days
Sarracenia are very easy to grow

Gather care sheets from the Internet on certain plants
This Will show you the following

Were to grow them
looking after them in summer. . winter time
Which Compost mix for certain plants
Watering eg rain water /not tap water
Sunlight
Cutting of dead growth at end of season
Pests and disease treatment

Semi mature plants are just as easy to look after as mature plants

Thank you everybody. I am a reader on forums rather than a poster.
I am still learning as much as I can, as you probably realise lol.
We are moving house soon, the home, still a cottage, has a greenhouse, garden room and more light. Light is possibly the one thing my plants have required more of. Though I appreciate not too much light.
Thank you all again for taking the time to help. Fingers crossed 2017 will be more rewarding.

Hi

Carnivorous-Plant require at least 8 hours of direct sunlight
And stand permanently in 2 inch of rain watet though growing season
Ventilate in hot weather
when it comes to winter time
Just keep compost moist but do not allow to dry out
Do not stand plant in water
Transplant every 2 years

Hope this would help

Thank you for the info...
Not sure the nursery who supplied the plant have used the correct soil or water.
Hence wondering where was the best place to purchase from.

It concerns me that your plants are only lasting a few days. This makes me wonder if you're giving up on them to soon. During the acclimation period your plant can look completely normal or it can look pretty much dead depending on how you acclimate them to their new home. These plants are slow to grow, slow to recover, slow to adjust.

With that said when you do get your new one, read up on acclimating it to its new home. Then if you have any questions about that post it up with pics and lots of detail about your growing conditions.

If you still have the most recent plant post a pic of it, there may still be hope.

Back on topic,

I've ordered from BCP (bestcarnivorousplants) twice now, plants once and seeds another time. The plants where awesome! The seeds I don't know yet. I should be finding out soon though.

Best of luck!
