Hello all,

Brand new to this website and forum, but I had a question re: growing vft's from seeds. I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything in an advanced search.

I successfully germinated a few fly traps that I bought earlier this year from this site. The plants sprouted and actually grew a few mini traps, but they seem to have stopped growing? It has been a few weeks and there is no appreciable change in their size. Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on whether this is normal or not? I live in Atlanta, GA and the summer sun here is hot, so I'm trying to give them sunlight, but I don't want to burn them out either. Thanks in advance for any tips you might have!

-Tom

Welcome to the forum, you'll find lots of information here. Your seedlings look pretty typical for month old fly traps. These plants grow extremely slowly from seed, but it is well worth the wait! Stick with it and you'll quickly become addicted like the rest of us.

You can give seedlings a jump start by feeding them freezedried bloodworms. This link has a lot of good info regarding feeding. http://www.flytrapcare.com/feed-a-venus-fly-trap
