Hi I live in Hawaii and I had my VFT for about a month and they are growing :D :D !!!!

But there are some things that concerns me....they've been eating fast but now they seem to close really slow and some of theirs mouths are opened outward....

I also take them out in the sun and also use distiller water am I doing something wrong?? Also sometimes when it rains I also put them under artificial lighting.

Well here are my VFTs so far lol

That king henry looks like its starving for light. how many hours a day of direct sun light does it get ? I give my king henry 6-8 hours of direct sun a day and it loves it. The traps have a nice red coloration inside the traps. Ill post a pic of mine. Iv had mine for 20 days.

When i received it had no new growth coming from the center. now it has 6 new traps coming up. not bad at all

This was on May 7th

I put all my VFT 4-6 hrs in direct sunlight and 5-6 under artificial light lol. But idk if the artificial light is strong enough it's 6500K ...

And your King Henry is looking soooo nice!!!!

thanks also i dont think you should use the tray method with this moss. i left for orlando for 8 days and it was still moist when i got back and was left in the sun. this moss hold water almost to well. i think your moss might be to wet combined with not as much sun. i think thats why the traps are sagging. i could be wrong as im new at this as well but from what i learned so far i think it might be that

i just water mine from the top once maybe twice a week if it hot until it drips from the bottom

That's what I do but maybe I have to wake up early to put my plants outside. And I only water the plants unless the water comes out then I stop. But man I hope they don't die...

I think 40s and 50s for a short time is ok even during the growing season unless it gets into the 20s and 30s

So I just need to put it out in the sun more?? Do you have any idea if the VFT mouths are curling outward because of lack of sunlight...

Mine are also curling out ward, I think its from digestion. Mine also get enough light and I think yours is just the damp soil, The wind helps with drying it!!!

Lol oicic mayb I'll put a mini fan right next to it so it can dry better when it's under artificial lighting.

Does the mouths go back to normal after its curled outward?? :D
