How well do you wash your peat?
Microwave it to kill bacteria (yes it stinks :p) and rinse it once or twice with rainwater.

I'm in the uk and I get besgrow spagmoss, I find this a really high quality product! Best place to source it from in the EU is online orchid suppliers, here's a link to where I get mine
