I just received my first order from FTS. Mature Flaming Lips. I can't wait fo the spring to watch it grow. I caught a fly, so it had it's first meal.
I have a covered porch, or a basement. Which would be best for the winter dormancy?

Can't answer that until we know where you're located.

An unheated, but insulated garage would work for a Denver dormancy. Put it in there after the first hard frost and keep it damp until Springtime temps stay above 35°F. But make sure it stays above freezing. I know the Front Range can be very unpredictable.
Absent a garage, put it in the coldest part of your basement and keep it damp until Spring.
Light isn't a great factor while dormant, at least I haven't found it to be. My temperate plants go in my unheated, insulated, windowless, garage for a Tennessee dormancy.
